How to Measure Your Progress on Medium

P.S. It is not by follower count

Measure your progress (Source)

You measure your progress on Medium with views and reads, not with follower count, claps or interaction. Let me explain.

Medium is a very unique platform. It is in no way a “social media” platform. For one, you can’t chat or DM. It is not in the leagues of Facebook, Twitter, IG, and the likes. For one thing, the platform has its own payment structure. Unlike other platforms where marketing is the thing.

Medium is built for expression without marketing. This is why it is the “wrong-est” place for content marketing. The people here are here because they are running away from “content marketing”.

The other extreme is journalism. And just like content marketing, you are free to do journalism on this platform. However, the platform is not optimized for that.

Medium is optimized for experience-based or research-based articles tailored to the interest of readers

To be successful on this platform, you first have to focus on a specific tag or set of tags. And all tags are not equal. The most profitable ones have been discussed in an earlier post.

I investigate things and write about them - wealth, money, entrepreneurship, business, self-improvement, and more. Not financial advice though
